Both of my shorter works raise questions about whether our current understanding of beauty, health, psychology, and sexuality would have been viewed or treated differently; and how their stories may even help us better understand ourselves in the present.
Hope in recovery
Some of my works focus on the process of overcoming substance abuse or other behavioral addictions. Optimism being a strong aspect of my artistic voice, I choose to focus these stories on the sense of purpose and community that can be built once a person decides to pursue recovery, rather than the path that led them to rock bottom.
Movement as storytelling
Having written for dance and used phrases of movement in all of my plays, I believe the physical embodiment of emotions can be a powerful element to express deep and resonant stories.
